In the middle of February 2023 in Parliament, I spoke to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury about the Army and Navy Sustainable Transport Package.
I explained that many people from all across Essex waste precious time stuck in Chelmsford traffic jams. That replacing the Army and Navy with a new junction is vital for the future of growth in our area. That the sustainable transport package will not only deliver a new junction but also deliver improvements to Park and Ride, bus, cycle and pedestrian routes.
The Outline Business Case is with ministers for approval at the moment. We need £68 million of Government funding to make this happen. It has a cost/benefit ratio of 2.7x so every pound spent will bring huge benefits to growth.
The decisions of ministers on this vital project is key. I will continue to lobby ministers at all opportunities.
