Firefighters from Chelmsford joined colleagues from all across Essex in a mass display of the County's fire and rescue capabilities this week. The event, which was held at the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service HQ, was to demonstrate to Members of Parliament for Essex the county's advanced rescue and incident management equipment. The Chelmsford fire crew were joined by the chemical hazard experts from Maldon, the large animal rescue team based in South Woodham Ferrers, and the Urban Search and Rescue team, including two search rescue dogs, from Colchester.
It was an extremely interesting afternoon. I am now much better informed about the very impressive capabilities of our local fire and rescue service. If there is an incident which requires specialist equipment and knowledge, then I am confident that the Essex team will have the skills and resources required to protect the public.
