I am delighted that Anglia Ruskin University has just been awarded places to train 28 more doctors each year.
I campaigned hard for the opening of Essex’s first medical school in Chelmsford a few years ago. It became the first place ever to train local people to become doctors in Essex.
It has been hugely sucessful, with exceptionally high retention rates. The first students graduated last summer and many wanted to stay working in our local NHS.
Today’s news that the school is to be expanded is great for our local NHS.
