In Chelmsford we need more affordable housing. When new developments are made a proportion of the homes must be affordable, but the same does not apply when commercial buildings (like office blocks) are converted into homes. I raised this in the House of Commons on 25th November. 2022.
I have added my signature to a number of amendments related to Planning Laws in a Bill that is currently working its way through Parliament.
The amendments I have signed would make it easier for developer funding towards infrastructure to be delivered BEFORE new homes are built, prioritise development on brownfield sites, give authorities the ability to tackle land banking, require new homes in England to have solar panels - or another energy saving adaptation (from April 2025) and limit development close to large electricity pylons.
