You may remember that I led a delegation of Essex MPs to meet ministers earlier this summer to campaign for a fairer funding deal for our schools. The Chancellor announced that Colleges are to benefit from a £400 million funding package, with the 16-18 funding rate increasing for the first time since 2013 will help the 16 Chelmsford primary schools and the 6 secondary schools in the Chelmsford constituency. There is also additional funding for those with special needs and for post 16 education. These are all vital requests of Chelmsford head teachers.
The excellent Chelmsford College & our superb Chelmsford schools have told me that funding for 16+ age group was struggling. This is very welcome news. Thank to all the Essex MPs who campaigned together for more funding for schools and colleges.
