The Chelmsford based charity Blesma, The Limbless Veterans has been supporting servicemen who have lost limbs for over 90 years. They have nearly 3,000 members across the UK of men, and women, who have served in our armed forces and lost limbs.
One of their members lost his legs in the Second World War and is still supported by the charity today, others have been injured in much more recent conflicts or though non conflict related injuries such as training related incident.
I caught up with them over a cup of coffee in August. I heard so many inspiring stories about what their members are up to, including many who are representing the UK at Paralympic sports.
I heard how they are also helping to give bespoke advice to those supporting veterans and servicemen and women in Ukraine.
