What is your view on cycles and e-scooters? Please share
I am often contacted by Chelmsford residents who are concerned about bicycles and scooters being used on Chelmsford pavements.
I have launched a new survey to hear people’s views.
This can also be a problem in the city centre where the police often stop people who are riding bikes or scooters in the pedestrianised zone.
I have recently written to the Chief Executives of Deliveroo and Just Eat to ask them to take action on food delivery riders cycling in the pedestrianised zone.
On Friday I spotted two delivery riders flying down the High Street at Mach 8. It was very busy and risked a nasty accident. I stopped the riders and asked them to dismount. What are your views?
The government has been consulting on new rules for e-Scooters and e-bikes. It is currently not legal to use e-scooters outside of licenced local authority trials, such as those for hire in Chelmsford.
Please let me know your views so I can make sure Chelmsford’s voice is heard. You can take part in the local survey by going online here https://www.vickyford.uk/local-survey
