It is great news that the planning applications for the new Army and Navy Junction and related measures to help transport have now been submitted.
Chelmsford is a growing and thriving city and deserves first class infrastructure. Tackling the long-standing issue with the Army and Navy Junction is an absolute priority.
Plans for the Army and Navy Sustainable Transport Package, including the new junction, took a huge step forward when we were able to secure the £68.75 million in funding from the Government in November.
New computer-generated images help to give a better idea of what the new junction will look like.
There are three separate planning applications – one for the Army and Navy junction and one each for expanding the two Park and Rides. The plan is to expand Park and Ride facilities before the main work on the junction, in order to reduce pressure on the junction during construction.
As part of the planning process, people will have a 21-day period to comment on the applications before a planning decision is made in the Spring.
